Dr. Kern graduated with honors from the prestigious Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Economics in only three years. Prior to dentistry she worked as a strategic management consultant in London, England.
Dr. Kern received her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. A member of the Honors Prosthodontic Program, she was the solo recipient of the Student Award of Merit from The American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, the invitation-only membership organization for the most accomplished professionals in the field of esthetic dentistry.
Dr. Kern elected to pursue further training by completing an intensive General Practice Residency at the level 1 trauma center at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There she gained advanced, multidisciplinary clinical experience with an emphasis on dental implantology. She was able to hone her clinical judgment and diagnostic ability within each discipline, including endodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery, periodontics, orthodontics, and pedodontics. Additionally, as a hospital-based program, her residency provided extensive experience in treating a wide variety of patients with complex medical histories as well as dental emergencies including acute odontogenic infections and oral maxillofacial trauma.
Dr. Kern worked in private practice in Atlanta, New Jersey, and New York for 5 years prior to joining the team at Virginia Dental Center in February of 2015. By offering solutions to restore or replace teeth in a compassionate environment, Dr. Kern treats patients honestly with modern and long-lasting dentistry. Dr. Kern is passionate about involving patients in treatment planning, educating patients about treatment options, and encourages them to take charge of their oral health. Dr. Kern prides herself in being very thorough in her work, from initial diagnosis to rendering treatment, as she believes every patient deserves to be treated with the utmost respect and compassion, as you would treat your family. Dr. Kern’s extensive training has made her a welcome addition to Virginia Dental Center, where she is well-equipped to handle all your dental treatment needs.
Committed to staying abreast of cutting-edge changes in the field of dental medicine and dental technology, she actively participates in continuing education and learning through continuing education. Dr. Kern stays current on the newest techniques and principles in dentistry with hundreds of hours of clinical and didactic continuing education (CE) courses. Dr. Kern is the co-leader of the Elite Dental Group Spear Study Club, and attends hands-on lectures and seminars at the Spear Institute in Scottsdale, Arizona. Dr. Kern is Invisalign intermediate certified, and she is an Invisalign Preferred Provider at Virginia Dental Center. Dr. Kern is a proud member of the NOVA Institute/Seattle Study Club, the American Dental Association, the Northern Virginia Dental Society, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, the American Academy of Women Dentists, and a charter member of the Nova Dentist Academy Study Club.
Her emphasis on patient comfort, as well as keeping up-to-date with the latest advancements in dentistry, enables her to provide her patients with the best quality of care in the field. Dr. Kern has a wide range of experience in different areas of dentistry, from cosmetic and restorative dentistry to surgical treatments. Dr. Kern’s approach to your treatment starts with patiently listening to you. Then, after a complete and thorough examination, she reviews and discusses the diagnosis and treatment options with you.
When Dr. Kern is not practicing her passion of dentistry she enjoys yoga, running, Pure Barre, and SoulCycle. She is a member of Mothers of North Arlington, and loves spending time with her daughter Annabelle.
